Charity of the Month for February 2011: Autism Speaks
Continuing in my 2011 resolution to donate to a different charity each month of the year, this February I have selected Autism Speaks.
I had heard of Autism Speaks before because of Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars. A co-worker and friend of mine has a young son who is diagnosed with Autism and I knew I wanted to donate to a charity she felt strongly about. So as we walked to the train one night after work I asked which charity she felt strongest for and she said Autism Speaks is an excellent charity. Autism Speaks works to to fund research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism, as well as educating and advocating for the cause. It’s a worthwhile cause to donate to so if you’d also like to donate, click on the logo below. Plus it is my friend Jess’ birthday and I’m sure she’d love to see those donate to a cause so close to her heart.

Charity of the Month for January 2011: Ronald McDonald House
I’m not big on New Year’s Resolutions. I never get them and they seem kind of lame- exercise more, eat less, stop smoking. During the Christmas season, I didn’t end up donating as much as I like to during the holiday season so I decided that my 2011 New Year’s Resolution was to donate to a different charity each month in 2011. Spread the wealth and help those who need some joy, etc. in hard times.
My first donation in the year 2011 is… The Ronald McDonald House. After my twitter pal @MamaXanax told me her story about how the Ronald McDonald House was there for her in a time of need, I definitely knew this would make my 2011 list. The Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to stay, free of charge and nearby, while their children are being hospitalized. While a child is seeking the treatment they need, the family is able to be close by no matter where the medical facility is. It’s a great organization and if you’d like to donate as well, click the image below.
